What a beautiful old hymn. So many of these old hymns have been forgotten and replaced by the beautiful praise music heard now in most churches. I was glad that this movie brought back recognition to this old classic. As soon as I heard the tune, I was captivated, by its melody and memories I have from church as a child. FUNNY THING IS THIS CARTOON WAS MADE IN 1950, AND LIFE HAS CHANGED QUITE A BIT SINCE THEN, HOWEVER IN THIS CASE THINGS HAVEN'T CHANGED A BIT. REALLY WE COULD INSERT MOST OF OUR OWN NAMES INTO THIS TITLE. HOW OFTEN DO WE BEHAVE IN SUCH A MANNER?

ITS EASY TO LOOK AT THE 1O COMMANDMENTS AND SAY, I DONT STEAL, I TRY NOT TO EVER LIE, I DEFINITELY DON'T MURDER, I'M FAITHFUL TO MY SPOUSE AND GOOD TO MY PARENTS. THEREFORE I AM A GOOD PERSON. IS THIS WHERE IT ENDS. THATS IT THATS ALL?? NO THERE IS SO MUCH MORE AND REALLY IT BOILS DOWN THE SMALL THINGS. MANY CAN SAY THEY HAVE NEVER COMMITTED THE "BIGGER" SINS BUT WHAT ABOUT THE GRIT. THE SMALL STUFF, THINGS DONE THAT WE GIVE NOT A SECOND THOUGHT TO. LIKE OUR BEHAVIOR IN TRAFFIC AND OTHER SEEMINGLY "SMALL" DAILY OFFENSES. I DON'T SPEAK FROM A PEDESTAL BUT RATHER FROM A HEART THAT WANTS TO BE PLEASING TO GOD IN THE "SMALL" AND OFTEN HARDER TO RESIST DAILY TEMPTATIONS THAT WE FACE, SUCH AS BECOMING LIKE MR. WHEELER IN TRAFFIC.

WHEN WE STAND BEFORE GOD ARE THESE THE MOMENTS OF OUR LIVES WE WANT WRITTEN AND RECORDED IN THE PAGES OF THE BOOKS WRITTEN IN HEAVEN. I SURE DON'T.

THE PROCESS OF REFINING GOLD IN A FIRE REMOVES ALL GRIT (SMALL STUFF) AND LEAVES THE GOLD PURE. UNTIL THE GOLDSMITH CAN SEE HIS OWN REFLECTION IN THE GOLD. JESUS WANTS TO SEE HIS OWN REFLECTION IN US. I PRAY THAT WE ALL WILL WORK ON THE MR. WHEELER AREAS OF OUR LIVES AND WORK UNTIL OUR GOLDSMITH SEES HIS OWN REFLECTION IN US.
